Set up MFA to avoid interruption

Changes are coming to multifactor authentication (MFA): Microsoft is eliminating Voice and SMS as a method of authentication effective February 1, 2027. You will not be able to log in to any TRU services requiring MFA after this date.

Prepare now to avoid any interruption to your access to Microsoft 365, email, Banner, Moodle and other TRU services requiring authentication.

Your next steps

1. Visit “How do I set up multifactor authentication (MFA)”  ITS portal page to learn how to set MFA up.  
2. Set up Microsoft Authenticator if you have not already done so.  
3. Set up one additional MFA method to help prevent being locked out of your account. Synced key or Yubikey/FIDO2 key if you have one.  
4. Set up a password reset alternate email.
