As demand for network bandwidth grows, the Network and Technical Services team in IT Services have been making significant improvements to network infrastructure this summer.
TRU’s Kamloops network has upgraded its connection to KAMTX, BCNET ORAN and CANARIE Research networks from 1 GBPS to 10 GBPS to support BCNET-hosted services like EDUCLOUD and to meet the growing bandwidth demand of students, faculty and TRU researchers.
TRU’s Regional campus network improvements include a 100 MB CE Upgrade for the Williams Lake Campus and 20 MB for TRU Clearwater.
The team is also completing the migration of voice infrastructure to VoIP for over 2,300 handsets on campus.
Finally, TRU has upgraded its firewall infrastructure to next generation firewalls that are easier to configure, higher performance and enhance TRU’s overall network security.
